This is a great movie! The actors all seems to have a handle on who they're playing as and it just comes off really well.

We begin with a lot of credits. It’s good to see Stan Lee up in lights as an Executive Producer of the thing. I think that helped the movie a lot, but what do I know?! Lee might not have done much of anything!!

Anyway, we get the story of the origin of the Webhead. If you don’t know it, then you must not be from this planet! Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) goes on a field trip to some scientific museum or research center and gets bit by a genetically enhanced "super-spider". (In the comics, I think he was bit by a radioactive one.) Anyway, he gets sick and wakes up with super powers. He can climb walls, has a "spidey-sense" (a kind of ESP) and he’s become very strong…not to mention that he can spray webbing from his wrists! That’s a cool update! In the comic, Parker built some web shooters that he was always filling with more web pellets.

Back to the story. Parker is in love with Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst), who’s the beautiful girl from next door. Unfortunately, he’s a geek and she doesn’t even know he exists, figuratively speaking. Eventually, he rescues her a couple of times as Spiderman. He also learns that with his new powers comes new responsibilities. He learns this after winning a wrestling match and then not stopping a crook who ends up killing Parker’s Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson).

Well, the movie wouldn’t be anything without a villain, and the villain in this one is The Green Goblin. The Goblin is in fact Parker’s best friend’s (Harry Osborn played by James Franco) father, Norman Osborn (Willem Dafoe). The Green Goblin comes into existence when Norman decides to do an experiment on himself by testing some performance enhancers. This ends up driving him mad.

There are a lot of cool special effects and some very interesting fight scenes in this movie. There are few twists in the story line, though. You can predict most everything that happens. I’d love to tell you about some of the stuff I thought was great, but that would spoil it for you, the reader.

The Good Stuff:

All the actors rock!
The special effects were solid for most of the scenes.
The story was a good pick too!

The Bad Stuff:

There’s some swearing…not a ton, but too much!
The violence can get a little intense.
What’s up with the FIRST scene of Parker’s Aunt and Uncle? They both swear repeatedly!!!

Other than that, I thought it was a great movie and that it did justice to the Spiderman legend. Watch it if you like superheroes!!!
