Looking for some violent manga come to life? Well, look no further. I haven't seen much anime that looked more violent then the garbage that was advertised before the show began. Awful clips of anime I wouldn't watch if you paid me! Bleagh!

Ayane on the other hand is pretty good. Ayane (Debbie Rabbai) is a high school student that wants to be a famous woman wrestler. It's her dream, and the film starts off with her at some wrestling try-outs. She doesn't make the cut, but her legs draw the interest of a "gym owner" named Kunimitsu (Greg Wolfe).  He stops her and Ayane thinks he's a lecher.

After a little convincing, she agrees to let him help her become a star. However, Kunimistsu has no intention of making her into a wrestler. He wants her to be a kick boxer! Ayane doesn't realize this until she's in the ring going into her first match. She's a little dense.

The training and rapport between the principle characters in the show is what makes it good. Ayane's animosity towards Kunimitsu is funny and her friendship with Sakurako (Rose Markisello), another school girl, is endearing.

Anyway, Ayane wins the match with a "golden high kick." This makes her a star of sorts at her school. Unfortunately, it gets her in trouble with the vice principal (Jack Taylor) who doesn't seem to like students. He's hilarious to watch though. And he was at her first match along with the principal (Flavio Romeo) himself. The Principal is cool. He roots for Ayane!!!

Her win makes another kick boxer jealous. Why? Because it takes the media's attention away from her! She's got a major ego problem and thus ends up calling out Ayane. The Vice Principal and the Principal make a deal with Ayane that if she wins the match, she can stay in school; otherwise, she'll get expelled for being on TV. (Yeah, it's weird!)

Of course, there's more training involved before the match, and it's interesting. But the battle itself is brutal. Ayane wins here too, by sheer will power because she wants to graduate with her friend Sakurako.

The Good Stuff:

The virtues of friendship that are espoused!
The slap-stick humor...
Typical funny stuff in anime...big headedness at odd places, over-the-top expressions, etc.

The Bad Stuff:

Yow! There's quite a bit of violence! Poor Ayane!
As with a lot of anime, there's SWEARING!!!! ARRRRR!
I suppose skimpy outfits could fit here...or if you're perverted, they'd go in the other category...

I think this is pretty good movie. It's entertaining and has an okay message. Better then Power Rangers or Power Puff Girls anyway.
