Sorcerer Hunters
Vol. #3: Fires of Passion
Subtitled Version
Version: Video (ADV)
Rated: PG (due to cursing and revealing outfits)
Length: Approx. 60 minutes
I first read about this series on Akemi's AnimeWorld It was described as akin to Slayers so I thought this would be great. Unfortunately, this is not the case. This volume has 2 episodes, which seems to be the case with most volumes of anime. Read on for the full review!
Episode # 7: Love, As It Drifts
The story is about a glowing silvery gold "river" that floats and twists about 10 feet or so above the ground. A clan of people at the source of the river throw a boulder into the river and it goes down the river chipping itself and such. If the rock gets molded into the shape of a man, the rock will spring to life and be a "savior" of sorts for another clan at the end of the river. That's the legend anyway. And there's a virgin that awaits this "savior" in hopes of marriage.
Anyway, Carrot, one of the Sorcerer Hunters (and Chocolate's main squeeze) is girl crazy and wants the virgin for himself. So he jumps in a floatation device and zips off down the river to try to get the girl. Chocolate and her sister, Tira give chase.
Meanwhile, one of the people from the upper clan is in love with the virgin too and through Carrot's urging, he goes after her as well. Of course, this doesn't make a whole lot of sense seeing as how Carrot is lusting for the virgin as well and only wants to seduce her. But maybe sick people like to share their fantasies with others. I wouldn't know.
The entire story is STUPID and very dull. The only highlight worth mentioning in this travesty is an annoying, ugly cat. (Why is it annoying? Because it meows, alright!? BAD voice acting. Period!) It rides with Carrot down the river and ends up saving Carrot when he almost drowns. How? The cat knows CPR...rather funny and shocking too.
And no, Carrot does NOT get the girl.
Episode # 8: The Forbidden Fire
This episode isn't much better. However, it at least has some excitement. The Sorcerer Hunters are sent to their next job in a town where a sorcerer takes adults and changes them into children so he can basically torture them through the use of a diorama.
He ends up capturing 4 of the 5 Sorcerer Hunters and he changes them into kids. Carrot is the only one that escapes. Carrot ends up saving the day when he turns into a demon monster and kicks the sorcerer's butt. It's kind of implied that the sorcerer dies, but you really can't tell one way or the other.
An all-knowing type heavenly creature is the Sorcerer Hunters boss. She tells them where to go. Anyway, she comforts Carrot and gets him changed back to human form. Normally, Carrot is brought back around by Chocolate and Tira.
The Good Stuff:

The cat from the first episode |

I liked the look of the sorcerer from the 2nd episode. He was cross-eyed and just plain maniacal. |
![]() |
Carrot could be funny at times... |
![]() |
And the animation was decent |
The Bad Stuff:
![]() |
Cursing... |
![]() |
Demons and such |
![]() |
SUPER BORING SHOW! |
Dumb Stuff:
![]() |
The scripts |
![]() |
That super being that's the boss...if she knows all this stuff and is pretty powerful (or so it seems), why are sorcerer hunters needed??? |

Tira and Chocolate usually look like good looking chicks in boring clothing. However, when they go into "Sorcerer Hunter" mode, they take off their cloaks and show off their cleavage. But they do this in a REALLY lame way. It's STOCK FOOTAGE! Reminiscent of Power Rangers. |
Both of these episodes stunk. Don't waste your money or your time on this unless it's with a bunch of friends so you can make fun of its atrocities.
