Sorcerer Hunters

Vol. #4: Phantoms of Love

Dubbed Version

Version: Video (ADV)

Rated: PG (due to cursing and revealing outfits)

Length: Approx. 60 minutes

Main Cast: Christopher Corey, Brett Weaver, Tiffany Grant (I), Tamara Lo, Jason Douglas (IV), Kira (III), Kelly Manison,

These two episodes are much better than the two that were before. But than again, it would be quite difficult to get much more boring, although the 2nd episode does try...I don't know why this one is better. Maybe it's due to it being dubbed. But I have seen good anime that is subtitled...Stop the babbling and on with the review!

Episode # 9: Labyrinth Opera House

More yakking with that moronic boss lady and a little bit more of her "daughter" angel, Dotta (Kira). She's cute, but naive. The Sorcerer Hunters are off to check up on a sorcerer that is supposedly doing good for a town. While there, they discover that he may have murdered Gateau Mocha's (Christopher Corey) former partner. (Gateau is a big dude...and doesn't get much screen time from what little I've seen).

After a little investigation, they find that this sorcerer has kept his love in the form of a cat. She was kidnapped by an "evil" sorcerer and changed into a cat and he had to kill Gateau's partner to save his woman...but being an egotistical jerk, he kept this lady as a cat. She was formerly an opera singer. She's rather egocentric too.

Anywho, the sorcerer sort of dies and everyone is happy again, except cat girl.

This particular episode was kind of funny. Carrot (Brett Weaver) almost killed Gateau to save Chocolate (Tiffany Grant) and there were a couple of funny lines issued here.

Episode #10: To Love a Vagabond

This show was about a Vegas-like local with an evil sorcerer. The Hunters were sent in to gamble, and if they were pure-hearted, they'd win.

Gateau disguises himself as a drifter. He falls for the sorcerer's wife. And she for him. Many LONG scenes ensue with them just staring at each other. ARRRGGGHHH!!! This gets old very, very fast.

The hunters end up in an arena battling a beast that was created by the evil sorcerer. Well, only four of them are there to do battle. Carrot was thrown in prison because he gambled himself into debt.

Anyway, the best scene is where Carrot gets smacked.

The Good Stuff:

Carrot...who, by the way, sounds just like one of the thieves in Slayers: The Motion Picture and Jeffery from Slayers: Dragon Slave.

Again, the animation was good

The first story line was done fairly well.

The Bad Stuff:

The 2nd episode was more boredom...for the most part

More swearing

Dumb Stuff:

More stock footage

And more of that dumb god-lady-boss thing.

While this volume was better, it's still not worth a rental. Check it out if you're an anime freak only. Or if you have a better constitution than I do.
