When I borrowed this movie from a friend, I was
warned that it was preachy. This didn't bother me. I just wished I'd known how
annoying it was going to be.
If you like Mothra and have followed her movies, then you know that she has two "fairies" (AKA, tiny Asian Chicks named Moil and Lora) that dress alike and speak in unison. In Mothra's new movie, they still have fairies, but they no longer dress the same and the don't talk in unison. They even have names, which was unheard of in the previous movies. Worst of all, they have an evil sister named Belvera.
The good fairies ride a fairy Mothra. It is basically a glider that's shaped like Mothra. It moves its wings rarely and when it does, it's even slower than the big Mothra's flapping. The bad fairy rides a dragon of some sort and both of the creatures these fairies ride and shoot some kind of projectile energy stream.
Anyway, a monster that has three heads and looks suspiciously like Ghidrah, is awakened and sort of controlled by the evil fairy. The twin good fairies aren't happy. There's an amulet with major powers that the evil fairy and the good fairies fight over for the entire movie. Whenever the good guys get it though, they give it to some stupid kids. This is ridiculous since Belvera can take over people's minds and did just that with one of the kids earlier in the movie.
Well, Mothra and it's baby larvae take on this Ghidrah-look-alike and eventually defeat it. And the evil fairy escapes due to the mercy (and what I call stupidity) of her sisters.
Happy, happy, joy-joy.
My rating:
(Hey! It's a better than Godzilla's Revenge!)
