Big Trouble in Nekonron, China

Yes, it's the first Ranma 1/2 movie. Unfortunately, it's not much better than its sequel. The story begins with Happosai stealing undies and Ranma getting blamed for taking some of Akane's underwear. Not an auspicious beginning, to be sure. Soon, Ranma is being chased by every major (and quite a few minor) characters in the Ranma universe. Why? Because they could!

Finally, they all get smacked out of the way by what looks like some kind of black cloud with eyes (probably an Oni). It ends up being an elephant with a big "battle aura" and it wants Happosai. It lays the smack on him and then a girl named Lychee jumps in. She's the elephant's master. Anyway, she throws a partial scroll at Happosai and Akane catches it.

Conveniently, a ship floats out of the heaven bearing Prince Kerin, who has the other half of the aforementioned scroll and he will marry whomever has the other half. (Lucky for him, it wasn't a guy!) So, Akane gets captured, of course, and everyone goes after Kerin to rescue her. (Everyone includes Shampoo, Soun, Genma, Kuno, Ryoga, Lychee (and her elephant), Happosai, Mousse, and Ranma)

We go through some more typical confusing stuff, like Akane being flaky. She seems to want to stay with Kerin half the time. She is messed up emotionally, or something. 

Well, Ranma and Co., must defeat the :Seven Lucky Gods" of some obscure martial arts. I'm sure you can guess what happens, but not exactly how it occurs. Get the movie to find out!

While this movie is better than Nihao, My Concubine, it's not by much. I think this movie is more for the fans than anything else, kind of like the Pokemon movies. It's nothing special, but it will entertain you. See it if you're a Ranma-completist!
