The first Slayers TV series. Twenty-six episodes!!! If you like fantasy / comedy, this is the one for you. Don't go out and get Sorcerer Hunters. Stick with The Slayers. 

There are two story arcs in this particular series. But first, I'll tell you a little about the characters in the show. First, there's Line Inverse, a 15 year old sorceress. She's a hot head that likes to eat and she's the heroine of the show. Next there's Gourry Gabriev, a rather stupid guy, but an excellent swordsman. He ends up being Lina's traveling companion and a kind of bodyguard. I think Lina has some kind of crush on him as well.

Eventually, we also meet up with Zelgadis, a blue-gray guy has rock hard skin and hair like wires. He was made that way by Rezo, The Red Priest when Zelgadis asked Rezo for power. Now Zelgadis only wants to return to normal. Seeing as he's still blue-gray in the third Slayers series, I'm guessing he doesn't get changed back anytime soon.

We also meet Prince Philionel and Amelia, his daughter. They are into some heavy-duty white magic and work for "justice". Finally, you meet Sylphiel in the second half of the series. She's some kind of priestess or something and she's in love with Gourry. I still haven't figured out how those two know each other.

Anyway, in the first story arc, Lina must fight Rezo. He is a blind priest that wants to bring Shabranigdo (an evil monster / demon) back to life so that Rezo might see again. Whatever that creature is, it's supposed to be very bad. Earth threatening, in fact. Thus, Lina must kill it. 

Those last couple of episodes in that first story arc are kind of blah (in my opinion). The bad guy isn't very bad and Lina vanquishes it fairly easily with the Giga Slave. Also they are kind of repetitive. 

The 2nd story arc is where Sylphiel comes in. But before she does, Lina and Gourry end up with a bounty on their heads for fake crimes. Thus, they go looking for the people responsible for this travesty. On the way, they must do battle with a bunch of over-zealous bounty hunters. Oh, and since this is a "new" story, it starts out with only Lina and Gourry together. However, they quickly rejoin Amelia and Zelgadis.

Eventually, they find out who is behind these shenanigans, but I think you know enough about the show. Go get it and see what happens for yourself!

I think this is a cool show. The characters are lots of fun and the show can be serious at times too.
